Tens of youths in Naivasha beat up a man and nearly killed him after he allegedly threw a bottle at Nairobi senator Mike Sonko who was in the region on Jubilee campaigns.
The meeting was disrupted after the bottle was thrown at the dais, nearly missing the senator by a whisker on Sunday evening.
According to an eye witness Joseph Njoroge, the man had earlier thrown a stone at the convoy but this had been ignored.
It was then that the man threw a bottle of soda inside the lorry from which Sonko and Nakuru Speaker Susan Kihika were campaigning at the Mai Mahiu meeting.
“This time round he was spotted. Youths who were offering security turned their fury on him, beating him seriously, before he was taken to the police station,” he said.
According to the star, a police officer said the suspect was bleeding profusely from several parts of his body by the time he arrived at the station and that he was rushed to a health centre for medical examination.
"No one has recorded a statement over the incident,” he said.
The Nairobi senator was not immediately available to offer a comment on the matter.
