A man on Friday refused his daughter to be burried at his homestead saying that only male kids are burried at their native homes.
This happened in Bogechoncho village in Bobasi Kisii County.
The man identified as Nyakoyo said that he was not happy with the fact that his wife had only female kids.
"All the girls in this home should get married as this land belongs to my future son as I am planning to bring in a second wife," he said.
However angry locals caned him thoroughly and chased him from his home.
"We cannot allow a man to bring disturbance when we are having problems here. He should respect his wife especially at this time, " said Eric Ating'a a local.
Area chief Amon Nyabaro said that the man was the reason the family had delayed to burry the girl.
He said he received a call from locals who asked him to intervene and calm down mourners who were caning the man.
"I rushed to the scene and calmed down the mourners who were threatening to murder him," he said.
