A 40-year-old man from Nyamache, Kisii County on Sunday survived the wrath of his angry in-laws for demanding that they refund his dowry after he separated with their daughter.
The man identified as Erick Omwange said that he wanted the dowry back since he had moved on to marry another wife after their marriage hit rock bottom six years ago.
The man who went to his ex-wife's home in Suneka found himself in a hot soup when he said that he had come to pick the animals and ferry them back to his home.
Richard Okello a witness told Hivisasa that the demands did not go well with members of the family who threatened to chop off his head using machetes.
"It is then locals came to his rescue and asked him to leave the home which he did," said Mr Okello.
Area Nyumba Kumi boss Erastus Manono condemned the incident and asked the two families to agree.
"To avoid a repeat of such an incident again we ask the two families to agree and end the differences," he said.
