A middle aged man was caught red handed stealing a pair of shoes worth Sh 250 from a Kisii town based hawker on Monday.
Witnesses say, Allan Nyang'au, a student in one of the beauty colleges in Kisii town, was severally seen making rounds around Ms Kwamboka's shop pretending to be on a window shopping mission.
"He came in and when I was busy attending to a customer he took one shoe and put it in his bag, waiting for another opportunity to steal the other," Ms Kwmaboka said.
Ms Kwamboka said she decided to be patient enough and witness what the plans of the young man were.
A second attempt to hide the other shoe hit the wall and Ms Kwambola raised alarm.
When other traders came to the shop they found the young boy pleading with the woman to let him free and on justifying that indeed he had stolen they started beating him up.
Pleas to the mob to forgive him bore no fruits and he was beaten before taken to Kisii Central police station.
Investigations have kicked off as the young man remains held at the station wondering why he even had to steal in the first place.
