A 30-year-old man was on Wednesday afternoon arrested by members of the public and area chief,  for allegedly marrying a 15-year-old girl  in Langa langa Estate in Nakuru town.

According to the mother of the form two student at Flamingo secondary school, the girl left home in Manyani estate and accompanied Denis Ouma, a bodaboda operator to his home in Langa langa estate after she had been sent to the shop.

She said she was informed by her neighbour that the girl had been seen somewhere in Langa langa, prompting her to alert the area chief George Ng’ang’a, and other residents before starting the search that led them to Ouma’s house.

The chief arrested both of them and took them to Central police station where the two are being held, with the insisting she looked for refuge after her mother warned her that she will discoline her for failing in her exams.

Nganga said its high time that parents should stop harassing their children for not performing well in school as this was frustrating them.

“The parents should stop harassing their children and learn to teach them good morals without frustrating them,” said Ng’ang’a.

He added that Ouma must face the law for staying with an underage school girl as a wife.
