The man who was captured on video being brutally assaulted by a police officer has come out to reveal what exactly happened.
According to The Standard, the man identified Brian Ogutu, revealed that he was heading back to work in the company of a colleague at PrintPark, Industrial Area after taking his lunch break when the incident occurred.
He said that they came across the came across a street boy attempting to steal metal bars from a godown that was close to his workplace and they decided to intercept him.
Ogutu's friend is said to have hurled a stone to scare the street boy but hit a passing bus causing damage.
The matatu had a police officer on board who alighted shortly after and went for Ogutu.
“The officer got hold of me and started kicking and hitting me. I tried to explain to him I was not behind the incident but he heard none of it as he pinned me to the ground even pressing my throat,” Ogutu said.
Lucky for Ogutu, his ordeal was recorded on camera in a clip that went viral on social media.
Ogutu has since recorded a statement with the police while the officer in question has been identified.
