Residents of Poye village in Siaya County are in shock after a middle aged man was found burnt to death.
The deceased, Bonface Owuor Ogolla was found dead on Wednesday morning by his family members after succumbing to the Tuesday night fire.
Area chief Felix Juma Omudho confirmed the incident, and noted that the cause of the fire was yet to be established.
"Bonface came yesterday and talked to his mother and his younger brother before retiring to bed. They woke up in the morning to find him dead. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined," the chief said.
Bonface who was staying alone in his house, was burnt to ashes, and all his property also destroyed in the Tuesday night inferno.
"My son came yesterday. We talked happily and bid him fawell as he retired to bed. He also talked with his younger brother and asked him to sleep soundly before he went to his house. We only discovered of his death this morning," the mother said.
Chief Omudho noted that investigations had been launched to determine the cause of the fire that claimed Ogolla's life.
He urged the family members to stay calm during this cold and trying moment.
