A middle-aged man died after being burnt by hot illicit brew that he was hiding to escape police arrest at Etugi Rogongo, Nyacheki Kisii County.

Witnesses said the deceased a father of 3 had gone to help his neighbor who was boiling chang’aa when they realised police officers from Nyacheki were on patrol in the area the man decided to hide hot illicit brew in a coffee plantation.

It is alleged that in the process of hiding the illicit brew, the deceased slide, fell down and the hot illicit brew fell on him.

The man sustained serious burn injuries on his thighs and the stomach. He failed to seek medical attention for fear of police arrest leading to his death.
