"She was in uniform but tried to disguise herself by removing the sweater and covering the head with a hiqab," Ruto said.

The girl is said to be a student in a local secondary school.

The Saturday incident caused a stir as traders mobbed the lodging baying for the man's blood.

The two were taken to Roret police post as investigations into the incident were launched.
