A man who allegedly married a minor was given a dog's beating by locals.
The incident happened on Sunday in Mecheo village in Bomachoge Borabu Kisii County.
Residents claimed that the man identified as Kimonwa married the girl who hails from South Mugirango, Kisii County 4 days ago.
“Kimonwa works at Etago in South Mugirango. He just returned home with the minor as his wife. When we questioned him he said he has legally married the minor who dropped out of school,” said David Mariera.
Area Nyumba Kumi official Benson Ondigi said members of the public got angered by the man's action and opted to beat him up.
“We condemn people like Kimonwa for targeting minors to marry them as wives. No one is going to be allowed to joke around with school children," he said.
"Parents should also not allow their underage girls to involve themselves in sexual relationships with old men commonly known as sponsors,” he added.
He said that elders warned the man saying that they will curse him if he goes on with his actions.
