There was drama in Riomoro, Nyacheki in Kisii County, after a man was seriously beaten by villagers for celebrating a family member’s death.
The man is said to be living in TransMara, Narok County, and could now hide his joy on learning about the death.
He then came home and slaughtered his mother’s lamb, which was bizarrely used to celebrate the death together with his friends.
The villagers, on learning about this untimely incident came together and decided to punish him for being a disgrace to the area.
After the ordeal in the hands of the villagers, the man is said to have been taken to Nyacheki sub-district hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
They accused him of being selfish, saying no matter their differences, he should not be doing such in public.
The man is said to have been in bad terms with the now deceased, after longstanding disagreements on various issues.
Village elders however condemned the act and urged people to respect the dead and pay their last respects for the departed in peace.
