A man in Siaya has been sentenced after he was found guilty of murdering his cousin.

The court was told that George Jahoro murdered Joseph Ndala at the latter's home in Uloma sub-location, on July13, 2009.

Jahoro, who accused Ndala of stealing his beans, entered the victim's house, pulled him out before he grabbed a jembe and hit his victim twice in the back of his head.

Jahoro then invaded Ndala's shamba and harvested the beans while Ndala’s terrified wife ran away.

In defence, Jahoro said it was the deceased that rushed into the house and emerged with a jembe.

“The deceased was angry, and so I decided to run away. It was while I was running that I picked a piece of wood from a nearby pile of firewood and threw it at the deceased,” he said in testimony.
