A middle aged man arraigned in court for selling narcotic drug to minors at Ikuruma sub location in Marani, Kisii County. David Nchaga Nyakundi was arrested by the police at Ikuruma market after the accused was spotted selling Bhang to under age at Ksh 100.

The convict was later brought at Kisii Law Court where the Senior Residence Magistrate, L. Kaittanyi ruled that Mr. Nyakundi is to remanded in custody after it was evident that the accused was in possession of narcotic drugs contrary to section 3[1] as read with section 2[a] of the Narcotic and Psychotropic substance control Act No. 4 of 1994 laws of Kenya.

During litigation, Nyakundi almost busted into tears as he pleaded with the prosecution to pardon him from his actions

Bhang is one of the illegal drugs which are highly illegal in Kenya and whoever caught trafficking it or engaging in its business may end up in custody since it attracts severe punishment as stipulated in the said Act.

Kisii County governor, James Ongwae last month taken an initiative in collaboration with the National Agency Control Against Drug Abuse [NACAADA] which was aimed to sensitize locals on dangers of drug and substance abuse which seems to have had a little impact on drug abuse amongst the locals.
