A night security guard on Thursday was charged before a Mombasa court for stealing property valued at Sh208,530 from his employer.

The court heard that the suspect Andrew Musa Okumu broke to his employer's offices in Ganjoni Mombasa Island and stole 3 laptops, TFT computer screen, 2 USB cables, a flash disk, a scanner, printer and an extension.

Okumu is said to have committed the offences between November 25 and 26, 2017.

His employer Ms. Sarah Njeri said the accused failed his duties to prevent thugs from breaking into her residence.

Okumu appearing before senior resident magistrate Martin Rabera denied the charges and was released on Sh100,000 bond.

The hearing of the case was set for January 16, 2018.
