A 40 -year -old man was on Friday arraigned in a court in Nakuru faced with charges of threatening to kill his father and detaining him in his house.

The court, under the precision of Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Mwaniki heard that Moses Okila a former employee of Njoro Canning Factory invaded his parents’ home at Turkey Farm in Njoro sub-county on the evening of January 14, armed with a panga and threatened to kill his father, Dancan Okila in front of his mother, Juliet Okila for failing to surrender to him a land title deed.

According to the prosecution desk, the accused, accused his aging parents for shortchanging him by failing to surrender to him a land tile deed to a family piece of land, in which he has since built a house and occupies with his immediate family.

He claimed that he wanted the title deed as proof that he had not been short changed in the family inheritance protocols.

The court heard that the old Okila, after sensing danger locked himself in the bedroom and called police from Njoro police station, who rushed at the scene but did not find the accused.

He was arrested the following day as he enjoyed alcoholic drinks with his friends at a drinking den in Njoro town.

The accused denied the charges and was released on a cash bond of Sh40,000.

The case will be heard on February 17.
