A 50-year-old man was on Monday charged by the Kisumu High Court after he allegedly defiled a seven year old girl.

John Aluoch Ponge is alleged to have committed the offence on May 24, in his home in Kaboro village Nyakach Sub County.

The court heard that the accused, who is a step father to the victim, did the act in the evening when the victim’s mother stepped has not at home.

The suspect then went into hiding.

Police arrested him on May 25 after they launched a manhunt.

The accused was denied bail.

Kisumu High Court Judge Ziporah Wahero directed that the case be heard on August 15.
