A 37-year-old man was on Tuesday arraigned in a Nakuru court over robbery with violence and rape at Lanet, Nakuru.
James Mwangi was accused of robbing Consolata Ndululu Sh45 000, 5 smart phones and a tablet all valued at Sh114 500 on June 20 at Mukuru Farm, Lanet.
The court heard that Mwangi, in the company of others who managed to flee after the incidence were armed with guns and other crude weapons while committing the crime.
Mwangi was accused on a separate charge of robbery with violence.
On June 23 he is said to have stolen a gas cyrinder, television set, two cell phones and a decoder all valued at Sh78 000 at Kiamunyeki Farm, Lanet from Roggers Mwangi.
On the same day, Mwangi was accused of raping a 22-year-old lady.
Mwangi had been presented before court on July 5, he refused to take plea saying he was still under pain due to severe beating he received from an angry mob who cornered him during the incident.
Chief Magistrate David Kimei directed that he be given medical attention and presented to take plea.
He denied committing all the charges. He was released on Sh500, 000.
The case will be heard on August 1.
