A middle aged man was on Tuesday charged at a Kiambu law court for allegedly obtaining Sh3 million from a woman pretending that he was in a position to help her import vehicles directly from Japan.
The suspect identified as Abiud Esonga Mulwale appeared before Kiambu Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichohi.
The prosecution told the court that the suspect obtained the money from Rose Mwende after he tricked her that he will help her import a vehicle from Japan.
The accused is said to have committed the offence between different dates of October last year.
He denied the charges and asked the court to release him on bond but the prosecution opposed the bond request saying the suspect is a security threat and if released he will continue with his fraud tactics.
Magistrate Gichohi said the suspect will be remanded at Kiambu prison.
The mentioning of the case was set for February 27, the same day the court will determine whether the suspect will be released on bond.
