A 35 year old man was yesterday arraigned in a court in Nakuru to face charges of assaulting his 26-year-old sister. The prosecution desk told presiding Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Mwaniki that Henry Ngugi assaulted Maurine Waithera using a wooden object and forcefully evicted her from their parents’ home at Kikapu village in Njoro sub county on December 13 after they disagreed over a family property. The court heard that the accused threatened to kill his sister should she continue occupying their late parents’ house which the accused intents to inherit. The charge sheet indicated that the complainant who is single mother sustained serious bodily harm and sought help from her neighbors before seeking treatment the following day. Police from Njoro police station arrested the accused on December 15 after the complainant acquired a P3 form and refused a plea from the accused for a local settlement of the case. He was remanded awaiting the hearing of the case on January 15 after the prosecution hinted that he was a threat to the complainant’s life.
