A 40-year-old man was on Thursday arraigned before a Nakuru Court to answer to charges of defiling his 12-year-old daughter.

Peter Mbugua was accused of defiling his daughter at their home in Nakuru.

The court heard that the accused person committed the crime on diverse dates between 2016 and March 29, 2018 at Munanda area in Gilgil, Nakuru.

The accused person also faced an alternative charge of indecently touching the minor’s private parts.

The accused was arrested by the police and taken to Gilgil Police Station on Friday, March 29, following a tip-off from neighbours.

The neighbors had alleged that Mbugua had a habit of chasing his wife out of their home and remain with the minor to defile her.

The accused person could however, not take plea as the prosecution applied to amend charges.

Nakuru principal magistrate Joe Omido ordered that he be remanded at Nakuru Central Police pending the next case hearing.

The case will be heard on April 6 where the accused will take plea.
