A man was on Thursday arraigned in a Mombasa High Court to answer to charges of defiling a 16-year-old girl.

The accused, Khamisi Rama, appeared before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The man is reported to have committed the crime on March 6, 2016 at unknown time, in Miritini, Changamwe Sub-County.

Magistrate Shitubi ordered the accused to be released on a 200, 000 shilling bond with a surety of a similar amount.

The case will be mentioned on April 19, 2016, with the hearing scheduled for May 10, 2016.
