A Kenya Ports Authority employee on 8/03/2018, appeared before a Mombasa court charged with defiling a seven year old girl.
Mr. Willy Mtongolo aged 45, was being accused of defiling a minor on March 5, 2018 at Shimanzi staff quarters. The incident made the women in Shimanzi on Tuesday, to demonstrate
Mr Mtongolo denied committing the offence he was being charged for, before the Principal Magistrate Charles Ndegwa. The suspect was then released on a bond worth Sh 300, 000. The case will be hard again on Monday, 12/03/2018.
"I disagree my lord" answered Mr. Willy, after he was asked whether to agree or disagree with the charges.
In recent weeks so many cases involving minor defilement have been reported in the coast regions, a number of them have been brought into books and charged, while others are still being under investigations.
The leaders have warned those handling rape cases and child defilement at home that such times are over, they said that every rape case and minor defilement cases should be handled by the courts and not village 'barazas'
If Mr. Willy Mtongolo will be found guilty, he will be judged based on Section 8(2) of the sexual offence act. Under Section 8(2) of the Sexual Offences Act, defilement of a child of 11 years or below, attracts imprisonment not less than 30 years, or imprisonment for life.
