A 30-year-old man has been charged after being accused of attempting to defraud K24 news anchor Eric Njoka of Sh850,000.
The incident happened as the man tried to pretend that he was in a position to sell the journalist a car.
Jasper Omondi Kwedho appeared before Milimani Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Kenneth Cheruyiot where he was charged.
According to court documents, on December, 30, 2017 at DSM Place, where Mediamax is located along Kijabe street in Nairobi's Central Business District, Kwedho jointly with others not before court wanted to defraud Njoka a sum of shillings 850,000 by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell him motor vehicle make Mark X, a fact he knew to be false.
Njoka who became specious of the men's dealings alerted the security guards at the premise who called cops from Nairobi's Central Police Station and Kwedho was arrested. His friends who were with him managed to escape before police arrived at DSM Place.
Kwedho denied the charges and was freed on a cash bail of Sh200,000 or a bond of Sh500,000 with a surety of the same amount.
The matter will be mentioned on February 26, 2018 and heard on 12 March.
