A family at Awasi in Kisumu is mourning their loved one, after he committed suicide by allegedly drowning in River Nzoia on Thursday morning.
The middle-aged man left behind a note indicating that he committed suicide due to frustration from his girlfriend.
The deceased whose name has been withheld was a sociology graduate from Maseno University.
According to the family, he had visited his aunt in Budalangi, Magombe village where is suspected to have committed the act.
His close relatives noted that he could have killed himself after realising his girlfriend was not committed to him.
According to text messages on the phone, the deceased pranked his girlfriend by playing to be Peter, a guy who was interested on getting the girlfriend.
In the texts, the girlfriend denied having ever been involved in any relationship with the deceased.
She also said she was ready to get into a relationship with Peter if he wanted.
At the end of the conversation, the deceased gave his real identity and wrote to her girlfriend that his life was meaningless.
“I was shocked. I checked his texts after reading the note. I have no idea where in the river he drowned but we haven’t seen him yet,”said Celine, his aunt.
A team led by Port Victoria OCS Felix Forex has commenced the search of the body along the shores of the river.
