A man at Kinii Village in Embu North on Monday committed suicide after his wife ran away with his Sh20 000 that he had been saving while working as a farm hand.
Embu North Deputy County Commissioner Muhsin Abdlatif confirmed the incident saying Boniface Lukulu Enongo, 25, reportedly quarreled with his wife before committing suicide.
“This young man hails from Western Kenya and had come here to work as a shamba boy. It is reported that his wife from Western came to visit him but they got into a fight over domestic issues. The wife then allegedly took off with Sh20 000,” he said.
The county commissioner said the deceased became angry and took poison after learning that his wife had ran away with his money.
Abdlatif urged residents to look for solutions to their problems instead of taking their own lives.
