A man in Migori has hanged himself in fear that his expectant wife was going to miscarry their child.
27-year-old Antony Juma resorted to the noose in his rented house at Rodi Kopany market in Homa Bay after seeing signs that his wife, who has previously miscarried twice, would miscarry again.
His body was discovered dangling in the room after his boss' wife went to call him for some domestic chores.
A brother to the deceased revealed that Juma has had psychological trauma resulting from his wife's previous miscarriages, and that this was the likely reason he did not want to witness another loss.
"My brother was traumatised by the loss of his two children through miscarriages. He was withdrawn because he thought he might lose the third child too," said Jared Juma, the brother.
"I asked him whether the boss was frustrating him but he told me 'no'. I then involved friends for counselling to enable him believe that his wife can deliver successfully," the brother added.
The couple reportedly went through counselling following the second miscarriage though Juma did not recover well.
Police are conducting investigations into the matter as confirmed by Homa Bay OCPD Esau Ochorokodi.
