A man has committed suicide following his wife's death at Kinangop Mission Hospital on Wednesday.
The body of David Kariuki, 55, was found floating in a 20-foot private dam at Karomboithi village in Njabini, Kinangop.
According to area OCPD Eliud Monari told, Kariuki found out his wife had died after going to the hospital where she had been admitted for more than a month.
The father of six later called one of his daughters informing her to collect some money from his coat pocket at home. He also sent the girl Sh500 via M-Pesa.
"When the girl sought to know the father's whereabouts and why he sent the money, the man said he had travelled to Nakuru," the police boss said as quoted by the Star.
The girl later called Kariuki be he was out of reach, only for his lifeless body to be discovered floating in the dam.
"We think his wife's death shocked him. It appears he loved his wife so much so he found it difficult to live without her."
