A 30-year-old patient has allegedly committed suicide at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Maurice Chege took his life Tuesday morning after a disagreement with his family.
He had been admitted to the hospital on August 9.
According to sources at KNH, Chege was diagnosed with acute psychosis suspected to have been caused by excessive substance abuse.
The hospital said Chege had been discharged on Monday after doctors at the hospital stabilised him but he died on Tuesday before leaving the hospital.
“We had managed to stabilise him, so much that he was able to hold conversations with his family,” a nurse at the facility who sought anonymity said.
Police reports say that he jumped off the seventh floor of the hospital and died instantly upon landing on a pavement.
The body was later taken to the KNH mortuary for a post-mortem.
