A man committed suicide on Thursday at Isena village Nyacheki Kisii County after he quarreled with his wife.
The deceased identified as only Ombui is said to have picked a quarrel with his wife on Wednesday evening before hanging himself using a rope in their kitchen.
Neighbours said the couple has been having a troubled marriage for the past 4 years.
"The man was an alcoholic but responsible for his family. The woman has been having love affairs with other men outside marriage. Elders have tried to unite them in vain until Ombui decided to take his own life,” said a neighbour Jane Machoni.
Zachary Okeyo, area Nyumba Kumi official said efforts to persuade the deceased to seek spiritual guidance did not bore fruits.
"We advised the deceased to seek spiritual advice and take his wife for prayers but it seems things got worse. The woman could not hear the advice from elders because even after a meeting was held to solve the differences in their marriage the woman will go out and meet other men outside wedlock,” said Okeyo.
Police officer from Nyacheki took the body of the man to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital mortuary.
