A mason fell off a three storey building where he was building and died this morning in Makongeni, Thika sub-county.
The 27-year-old Antony Musyoki is a resident of Kitui who arrived in Thika two days ago for a job he was called for by a friend who lives in the area. He allegedly started the job immediately.
The deceased was building one of the walls and that is when he fell and then hit by a metal container filled with concrete mixture. He was using the container which dropped from the area he was building.
The building is meant to host the Amboseli College’s new school.
Area chief Joseph Mwaniki confirming the incident sent a message of condolence to the family of the deceased and warned the other masons in the area against putting their lives in danger by building on weak points of building.
“It is sad that he lost his life just after his arrival in the area. This should be lesson to all masons to take caution when building to prevent a recurrence of such incidences,” Mwaniki said.
The deceased’s body was taken to Thika Level Five Hospital mortuary awaiting family members to collect it.
