A fight between two drunk men has ended in the death of one at Pilot estate in Thika sub-county.
A witness said the men started quarrelling after drinking, with the deceased allegedly starting the fight. It is alleged that his colleague had sipped his drink and refused to pay for it.
The fight caught the attention of the business community after the deceased was hit by his drinking buddy using a stone.
Those watching fled the scene after the deceased could not wake up, witnesses say.
His body was left lying on the roadside for some hours before a Good Samaritan passed by and called the police who arrived at the scene immediately.
Speaking to members of public at the crime scene, Thika police boss Shadrack Maithya said that the act was barbaric and should be condemned.
He added that police will get to the bottom of the matter that saw the two fight.
“This should not have happened if they were not drunk. We will conduct raids in the area and arrest all the culprits selling this illicit brews,” Maithya insisted.
The body of the deceased was taken to Thika’s General Kago mortuary as investigations get underway.
