One person has been confirmed dead after chaos rocked a political rally attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Isiolo referral hospital medical superintendent Stephen Kiluva said Mohammed Huka was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Mohammed died following a clash between supporters of three Isiolo gubernatorial aspirants.
The police were forced to shoot in the air to disperse the crowd.
It is during the shooting that the deceased got injured and passed on later.
The medical officer said another man was admitted at the hospital with serious head injuries.
“Police said supporters of Abdul Bahari (Jubilee), incumbent Godana Doyo - who defected to the Party for Democracy and Reforms, and Senator Mohamed Kuti (Independent) engaged each other at the Isiolo stadium rally…” reports The Star.
National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and area MP Joseph Samal were shut down by the youth as they tried to plead with them to calm down.
Uhuru had difficulties in addressing the locals after the incident, who on several occasions demanding that he addressed the matter.
