A middle-aged man died on Friday evening after being ran over by a sand harvesting lorry he was intending to hang on in along Nairobi Kangundo road in Kamulu Matungulu sub-county Machakos county.
Matungulu OCPD Joseph Cheshire confirmed the accident via phone. He said that the man together with others awaited for the lorry to approach so as to hang on it as they usually do.
As the man jumped to hold on the lorry he lost his grip thereby falling down and the hind tyres of the lorry ran over him killing him on the spot.

"Despite numerous warnings on youths to stop hanging on lorries our pleas have fallen on deaf ears as many are losing their lives," noted Cheshire.
He further urged parents to discourage their children's against the act as it endangers their lives.
The accident caused traffic snarl up before the police arrived and took the body.
The body of the man was taken to Kangundo level four hospital mortuary.
