A middle-aged man has died in an accident along Kanyonyo - Kivaa Road in Masinga, Machakos County.
The pedestrian died on the spot after he was run over by a hit and ran vehicle at Kaewa on Monday.
Confirming the incident, Kaewa sub-chief Josphat Mawia said the incident occurred in weir hours of Monday morning.
Mawia said the driver of the ill-fated vehicle failed to stop after causing the accident.
He said the deceased was headed home when the incident occurred.
"The man is between 45 to 50 years, he was hit by a vehicle which didn't stop just a few meters from Kaewa Market as he was headed home," Mawia said.
Mawia condemned the vehicle's driver for failing to stop after he ran over the deceased arguing it was a selfish act.
"If only drivers would stop after hitting someone, maybe many lives would be saved," Mawia said.
He said police had launched investigations into the incident.
Mawia said police were hunting for the driver who was still in the run.
The body was moved to Matuu Mediance mortuary.
