A casual laborer died on Friday morning after he tried to retrieve an ID and Sh600 that had felled inside a pit latrine.

According to source, the deceased Bernard Kirui jumped into the latrine to retrieve the items after the owner named Jackiline Chelimo, promised him the money as a reward.

Rahael Tuei, Nyota sub location assistant chief  said Kirui was the breadwinner to seven siblings and an old mother.

"He was a hardworking youth who was doing casual jobs along Mwahe-Masaita road that was being repaired by the county government," he said as quoted by the star.

Chelimo's items fell in the latrine while she was using it and asked passersby for assistance and Kirui volunteered after he was promised the money as a reward.

Kirui's body was taken to Molo Sub county Hospital mortuary.

Kuresoi deputy OCPD Paul Rono confirmed the incident and said police have launched investigations about the incident.
