A man in Bonkureu, Mosocho in Kisii County was last week found dead by a roadside, after he was allegedly dragged out of his house by unknown people.
The deceased is said to have been picked at 11 pm by the assailants, who went and killed him, dumping his body not too far from his home.
The family tried to find him that night but were not able to, only to be awakened by villagers who had found the body of their kin.
The man is said to have died from deep wounds that were caused by sharp objects, leaving him to bleed to death.
The wife of the deceased said the men came and asked for any valuables he had, and on telling them he had nothing he could offer, they left with him.
They forced the man to bid his wife goodbye, a clear indication that they had planned to kill him.
Area police arrived at the scene and carried the body to the Kisii Mortuary, where his body was preserved before burial.
Investigations have been launched to ascertain his death and the people behind it, with the locals lamenting over the deteriorating security.
