A man was on Monday electrocuted while disconnecting power cables during a funeral in Kisii.

Confirming the tragic incident, Kisii County Commander Agnes Mudamba stated that the victim died on the spot during the incident that occurred at Bokonye Sub-Location.

"We received a report from area chief Richard Omai that one Erastus Oyaro, 35, was electrocuted while disconnecting the cables. He died on the spot,” Mudamba is quoted by Nation. 

The deceased body was moved to Christa Marianne Hospital pending a postmortem . 

The police boss further urged locals to be careful when handling electrical appliances.

"Electricity is a friend but can become a deadly enemy if mishandled," she said.
