George Nyanja, a former Limuru Constituency MP revealed this during an interview with the press where he was criticising the leaders for failure to control drug abuse in the county.

He said that he had looked into the matter and noted that one of the key issues making Kiambu County lag behind is the engagement of the youth in drug abuse.

Nyanja said: “I am seeking your votes to be the next governor of Kiambu County and I will help fight drug abuse. There are many drug abusers in Kiambu County especially by the young generation. I have noted that in any case where illicit brews kills some people, several are from Kiambu and this breaks my heart knowing we have leaders who can stop this,” Nyanja said.

He said that the current leaders have done very little to reduce the number of drunkards and also rehabilitate those addicted to drugs. He suggested it is time to change the leadership and grant it to able leaders.

“For a very long time, you have been electing people because they give you cash hand-outs. But, they later vanish into thin air only to come back after five years, it is time you elect visionary leaders,” Nyanja said.

He called upon the Kiambu County council of to reduce taxes levied on traders and also put up public bathrooms and toilets in the markets.
