A middle-aged man in Kibera is facing three months imprisonment for attempting suicide by taking rodent poison.

Charles Onyango who was convicted by Kibera Magistrate Elizabeth Juma is said to have attempted suicide at his home.

According to the charge sheet, Onyango attempted suicide at his home in Katwekera village in Kibera on September 10, 2016.

He however told the court that he tried to commit the offense due to stress after his wife left him after disagreements at home.

He stunned the court when he said that his deceased father frequently comes in his dreams calling him to take the action.

“It was not my fault and I have been facing a lot of life challenges and that’s why I was opting to take my life,” added Onyango

Onyango said that he will talk to his family members to get a solution and have the family back once he will released.

Justice Juma however gave Charles a one week period to appeal the case.
