Residents said the man was found by his mother weak and unconscious in the kitchen with a bottle of poison.
The mother raised alarm and neighbors arrived and rushed the man to the hospital where he is fightingfor his life.
“It is unclear why he decided to take poison because they had not quarreled with anyone in the family. But, we have hopes he will get well so that he can tell us why he wanted to commit suicide,” said David Mogesa, a neighbor.
Mogesa described the man as a hard working person.
“He is not married and was a hard-working, social and humble person who could hardly be heard quarreling with people,” he added.
Efforts to speak to his mother were in vain because as the mother, clearly disturbed, could not talk to the media.
