A man was fined Sh30,000 by a Nakuru court on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty of being in possession of an illegal substance. Stephen Mbuthia pleaded guilty to being allegedly found in possession of six rolls of bhang on August 24, in Mau-Narok centre.

According to prosecution, the police who were on patrol got a tip off from a member of public that the accused was selling bhang. The police went immediately to where he was and searched him, recovering six rolls of bhang that were hidden in various pockets on his cloths.

He was arrested and taken to the police station. Appearing before Principle Magistrate Bernard Ndenda, Mbuthia pleaded guilty and pleaded for the court to forgive him. He told the court that he has a problem on his left leg.

The court fined him Sh30,000 and may face one year and six months in jail if he fail to raise the money. Mbuthia will also be taken to hospital for medication.
