Eldoret senior principal magistrate Harrison Barasa ruled that the accused Alfred Odour will pay the fine or serve 1 year in jail.

Seven witnesses testified in the case.

The accused was arrested on November 22, 2017 in Eldoret South where he was found with 100 conductor cables with Kenya Power serial numbers without permission.

Odour was remanded after he failed to raise Sh500,000 bond.

Barasa said the witnesses proved that the accused committed the offense.

"I have duly considered the witnesses testimonies and therefore, find the accused guilty. According to the Energy Act and Section 28 of the penal code, any person who commits such an offense should be jailed for not less than one year and pay a fine of not less that Sh5 million or both and that is the sentence for the accused," Barasa said.
