The father allegedly slit his son’s throat, killing him instantly after they had a disagreement.

Area assistant chief David Kinuthia confirmed the Monday night incident, saying the suspect disappeared after committing the crime.

“We have launched investigations into the unfortunate incident,” he added.

He said that the suspect killed his son and later dumped his body in Molo river to conceal the evidence.

Neighbours, however, alerted the police who traced the body to that river.

Rongai police boss Joseph Mwamburi said intensive investigations will be carried out to establish the motive behind the killing.

The officer decried the high family disputes that have often resulted in tragedies. He added that there is need for families to embrace dialogue in solving their problems instead of resorting to violence.

A number of domestic violence cases have been reported in the area with the victims being children.

In July, a man poisoned his children after a quarrel with his wife. The man’s son, 5, succumbed to death while his younger sister, 4, was admitted at the Nakuru General hospital.
