A middle-aged man in Kisii South sub-county Bomariba sub location Miranga village has been forced to marry a cow he was found having sex with.
It is said that the suspect identified as Nyanchoka Aroni was found having sex with the cow on Saturday in a banana plantation.
Area Nyumba Kumi official Momanyi Omwansa confirmed the incident and said the locals said the suspect must marry the cow because he chose to have sex with the animal instead of human beings.
"We had no option other than to force him to take the cow as his wife after the owner of the cow Mary Morikwa refused to take the cow," said Omwansa.
Omwansa said the suspect committed the heinous act under the influence of alcohol.
"Aroni accepted to have committed the act but said he was drunk. Efforts to seek forgiveness from the owner and other locals didn't give fruits because cows have been spoilt in the region without knowing the suspects. This will now serve as an example to those still doing the same in the dark," he said.
Miranga village elders led by Riverton Nyangaresi condemned the incident and said youths should look for women to have sex with and stop bringing shame in the society.
Nyangaresi said the suspect should pay the owner of the cow Sh50,000.
