A 30-year-old man from Nyaigwa village was yesterday morning found dead in river Riagai.

The man who was identified as George Mogaka was found by members of the public at around 10.30 am who raised alarm and alerted the police.

They also said that this was not the first case of the nature as three other deaths have occurred before.

It is alleged that he went to take bath at the river, a bar of soap was found next to his body, and it is assumed that he slipped and fell on a rock and died .

George is said to be a maize vendor within Nyamira Town and relatives described him as a humble man.

Confirming the incident, Nyamira south sub county administration police (A.P) commander Saidi Ndiema said that investigations had been launched to establish the cause of his death and a comprehensive report will be out as soon as possible and urged the public to be calm and desist from any form of speculation of his death.

The body has been taken to Nyamira Level 4 Hospital for post-mortem service.
