A man, 30, was on Monday charged before a Nakuru court with two counts of possessing and dealing with two pieces of elephant tusks worth Sh600,000 without legal permit.
The court heard that the suspect, Robert Mariao, on December 15 at Kanini plaza within Nakuru county was found in possession of the wildlife trophies without a permit from the Kenya Wildlife Service.
Appearing before chief magistrate Bernard Moraro, the accused denied all the charges.
He asked the court to release him on a personal bond saying the tusks were planted at his house.
The court released him on a Sh10 million bond.
Hearing of the case was scheduled for January 4, 2018.
