A Kangema court has sentenced a 32-year-old man to 94 years behind bars for raping his 94-year-old grandmother.
Samuel Mbaria was on Friday found guilty of committing the crime on October 11, 2016 at their Gacharage-ini village, Mathioya sub county.
Another magistrate’s court last week sentenced him to life imprisonment after he was convicted of defiling a two-year-old just an hour before he raped his grandmother.
During the ruling, senior resident magistrate Dennis Kivuti said the court was fully convinced by the prosecution that the accused had committed the offence.
The victim was unable to testify in court because she was traumatised.
A grandson to the complainant told the court that he was alerted to the scene after he heard the granny screaming and that when he rushed to the house, he found it locked from the inside.
A medical report from the Kangema sub-county hospital also revealed that the elderly woman was raped.
“On the same day, the accused person was convicted of defiling a minor in the same village. He took advantage of his grandmother’s vulnerability,” the magistrate said.
