A middle-aged man will have to spend his life in prison after Kithimani law courts slapped him with life imprisonment for defilement on Tuesday.
The accused, John Muteti Musyoki, was arraigned before senior resident magistrate Martha Opanga.
According to the prosecution on May 5, 2014 in Iviani village, Ndalani location, Yatta sub-county, the accused tricked his 7-year-old daughter while at home and raped her.
The accused also denied an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a child where he used his manhood to touch the child's private parts on the same day.
The girl's mother said she arrived home only to find her daughter crying and upon consultation the kid disclosed she had been raped by her father.
The prosecution presented six witnesses who added weight to the case against the accused. In mitigation the accused insisted he was not guilty and that all he wanted was to be released.
The accused has 14 days to appeal the magistrate's decision.
