A man aged forty-five years was on Friday hacked to death by suspected thugs in Mosobeti trading center in Masaba North Nyamira County.
Masaba North police boss Eliud Njeru confirmed the incident and said the deceased identified as Jason Bosire Omwenga was attacked by thugs at around 2 am on Friday morning on his way back home after closing his business.
“The deceased owns a bar in Mosobeti and he was on his way home after he had closed his business when the thugs attacked him with crude weapons including knives leaving for dead and fled to unknown place,” said Njeru.
Njeru said the deceased screamed and attracted residents who rushed him to hospital but died on his way.
He called on locals to cooperate with police so that the thugs who have gone into hiding can be arrested to be prosecuted.
“Locals need to volunteer information to police which could help security officers to arrest the thugs whose motive remains unknown because they didn’t steal anything from the deceased,” he noted.
He warned local youths against engaging in crime saying anyone who will be found will be dealt with accordingly.
