A26-year-old man was on Tuesday handed a four year jail term, after he was accused of breaking into a home, and allegedly making away with several properties.

Steven Nzioki, who was arraigned before the first Kithimani Law Court, was accused by the prosecution of breaking into a residential home in Katambasye village in Masinga Sub-County.

Speaking during the case hearing the prosecution noted that Nzioki allegedly broke into a residential home while the owners were away, after which he made away with property worth of Sh9,480.

“The accused on April 19, 2015 broke into my client’s home and made away with a mobile phone and several items worth Sh9,480,” stated the prosecution.

Steven Nzioki pleaded guilty to the charges, and was handed a four year imprisonment period by the Kithimani first Court

Speaking during his ruling, principal magistrate Davis Karani on convicted Nzioki of burglary and theft, which is against the law of Kenya.

“It is against the Supreme Constitution of Kenya to invade other peoples’ homes or onto their property without permission. Kenya has laws against burglary as well as trespass,” said Karani.

Karani has warned the young people against engaging in unlawful acts however minute they seem, warning that they would face the full force of law.
